Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data SeeSeen collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It also clarifies how optional location features, map indicators, and reference boundary overlays should be understood.

Separate policy pages: Privacy Policy is on this page. Terms of Service is a separate standalone page at /terms/.

Privacy baseline

We collect the minimum information reasonably necessary to operate the service, secure accounts, support moderation, and provide user-requested features such as posts, activities, and notifications.

We do not sell personal data

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or advertisers.

Location is user-controlled

Posting with a location is optional and depends on the mode you choose.

1) Summary

  • SeeSeen is a map-first community app with posts, comments, and user-hosted activities.
  • Location is optional and user-controlled. You may use device location, map center, searched place, or no location.
  • We use account, device, and security data to run the service, prevent abuse, and support moderation.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

2) Data we collect

2.1 Account data

  • Sign-in identifiers, such as an Apple or Google sign-in ID and the email address or relay address provided by that sign-in method.
  • Profile information you choose to provide, such as display name, avatar, bio, and language settings.

2.2 Content you create

  • Posts, replies, comments, and media you submit, including text, images, video, and audio.
  • Activity content, including title, description, time, participant settings, place information, and optional media.
  • Reports, appeals, and supporting evidence you provide to us.

2.3 Usage and device data

  • Basic diagnostics such as app version, device model, OS version, and crash or error details needed to operate and improve the service.
  • Push notification token if you enable notifications.
  • Security and service logs reasonably necessary for abuse prevention, fraud review, and reliability.

3) How we use data

  • Provide core features, including posts, activities, replies, notifications, and account management.
  • Maintain safety and integrity through spam prevention, abuse handling, moderation, and response to reports.
  • Improve the app through debugging, crash analysis, feature quality review, and performance monitoring.
  • Manage subscriptions if you purchase Premium through Apple In-App Purchase.

4) Sharing and disclosure

  • Posts, activities, and related content may be visible to other users depending on your visibility settings and the feature you choose to use.
  • We may use service providers to host content, store media, process notifications, and operate infrastructure on our behalf.
  • We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to address fraud, security issues, safety threats, or legal claims.

5) Location information, source indicators, and map boundary data

SeeSeen can use location to show nearby posts and activities. You control how location is used for your content:

  • Device location: uses your device location when you grant permission and choose that mode.
  • Map center: uses the map center point you are viewing.
  • Searched place: uses a location you select via search.
  • Off: you can create certain content without attaching a location.

We do not continuously collect background location for posting. Location is used according to the flow and settings you actively choose.

In some cases, SeeSeen may display a visual indicator, such as a solid or dashed outline, to reflect the location source selected at the time of posting:

  • On-site (solid): the post was created using device location.
  • Remote (dashed): the post was created using a map center or searched place.

These indicators are informational only. They may not be perfectly accurate, do not confirm physical presence, and do not imply continuous tracking or background monitoring.

National, administrative, or regional boundaries shown on the map are visual reference layers only. They may include manually drawn, self-prepared, imported, simplified, or third-party source materials assembled for SeeSeen. Because of source limitations, projection differences, scaling, and delayed updates, these boundaries may contain inaccuracies or omissions and should not be relied on as official legal or governmental boundary information.

6) User-generated content, safety, and moderation

  • We provide reporting and blocking tools and may review reports, remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts.
  • Automated systems, including AI, may assist with detecting violations, processing reports, or prioritizing safety review. These systems can produce errors or delays.
  • To protect the community, we may retain limited evidence related to safety reports, abuse investigations, or legal compliance for a reasonable period.
  • Never share sensitive personal information, financial information, or verification codes in posts, replies, messages, or activity pages.

7) Data retention

  • We retain data for as long as needed to operate the service, protect users, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
  • Some content may have time-based retention depending on your plan and feature usage.
  • Moderation, fraud, and security logs may be retained for a limited period to investigate abuse and protect the service.

8) Your choices and rights

  • You can update profile information in the app.
  • You can block users, report content, and choose whether to attach location when creating content.
  • You can request account deletion in the app. Depending on legal, safety, and compliance needs, some data may be deleted, anonymized, or retained.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
